About our Visitor and Education Center

Completed in September 2011, the Museum's new Educational Visitor Center and Museum Shop is located at 103 Orchard Street. The Center enables the museum to enrich the story of immigration with improved, expanded facilities and new programs.

The new 10,500 square feet Visitors and Education Center is entirely accessible to those
with mobility impairments (entrance on Delancey St. side) and offers:

  • An orientation center for the thousands of local, national, and international visitors
who come to the Museum every week
  • State-of-the-art exhibition and classroom space
  • An enlarged Museum Shop
  • Expanded evening programming, accommodating larger audiences for the Tenement Talks series
  • New facilities for culinary programs
  • A screening room exhibiting a new original film
  • Permanent gallery space for visual art exploring immigration issues

The Tenement Museum's research on 103 Orchard Street and its historic tenants was made possible through generous grants from The David Berg Foundation and the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
