During the 19th century, immigrants in New
York moved nearly every year. On May 1st, families packed all of
their wordly possessions into trunks and suitcases made of wood
and wicker.
Bridget and Joseph Moore were no different. To suggest their transient
lifestyle, trunks and suitcases such as the one pictured above,
will be piled up behind the bed in the back room of the recreated
