The Lower East Side Tenement Museum launches its year long Digital Artist in Residence Program with Claudia Chow¹s BANANA, commencing November 1, 2001.

The Tenement Museum has awarded residencies to three artists, each for three months. During their residencies, selected artists will complete an original, web-based project that will be stored in a permanent archive, on the Tenement Museum¹s web site (www.tenement.org). Their works will speak or relate to the Museum¹s research and/or preservation work, including:

• The immigrant/migrant experiences present and past.
• Related social issues or policies: welfare, child labor, health care, etc.
• The development of urban and public housing in Lower Manhattan and other American cities.
