Women’s History Month Pop-up Exhibit (Free)

5:30 pm to 8:00 pm

In Celebration of Women’s History Month, the March Pop-Up Exhibit will explore the stories of the many women who lived and worked at 97 and 103 Orchard Streets, from the mid-19th century to the end of the 20th century. Using photos, artifacts, and oral histories from the Tenement Museum’s collection, the exhibit will provide a lens onto the many ways in which these immigrant, migrant, and refugee women worked both inside and outside the home, participated in and inspired political and social movements, raised and led families, and took part in and shaped “American” culture. This exhibit will also examine the multifaceted ways in which sexism and proscribed gender roles shaped the lives and experiences of the women who once called these buildings home.

Location: 103 Orchard Street Visitor Center
