In Venezuela they gave courses in English, but, it was only the basics. So, in fifth grade I was in ESL and I met my best friend Anna. She came from Russia that same summer and we just bonded really well because neither of us knew much English. The school was PS69. I think the school was developing their ESL program and didn't have room because the building was so old. But, we had no contact with the real world for like a year. And when it was time to eat lunch in the cafeteria, we would seriously be like the aliens.
