Abraham Rogarshevsky, pictured here, is one of an estimated 7,000 residents of 97 Orchard Steet.
He would seem to be an insignificant face in the crowd.
Yet when carefully pieces together the historical record, one realizes that this one life and death touched hundreds perhaps thousands of people. Abraham Rogarshevsky did not hold a lot of political power, make great sums of money, or paint a masterpiece.
Instead, he has helped the Tenement Museum make use of the past.
