Tenement Talks

One Out of Three

Wednesday, December 31 7:00 PM

This season’s debut event takes its name from Dr. Nancy Foner’s new book on the city’s rich immigrant history, One Out of Three: Immigrant New York in the Twenty-First Century. Foner will be joined by the book’s contributors, Director of the Population Division of NYC's Department of City Planning Joe Salvo, and Bernadette Ludwig and Dr. Phil Kasinitz of the CUNY Graduate Center, for a lively talk about how the City has shaped—and been shaped by—its vibrant immigrant communities. Pulitzer Prize finalist Suketu Mehta, author of Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found, will introduce the panel.

This event is free, but you can reserve two seats by purchasing a copy of One Out of Three. Contact Laura Lee at or 212.431.0223 ext. 259 to purchase the book.

Events take place at 103 Orchard Street at Delancey Street, unless otherwise noted. Seating is available on a first-come, first serve basis.
