The Visitors Center & Tenement Shop is located at 108 Orchard Street (btw. Delancey & Broome). All tours begin at the Visitors Center & Tenement Shop.
The Visitors Center is open for the sale of same-day tickets for Tenement Tours during the following hours. The Tenement Shop is located within the Visitors Center and operates during the same hours.
Monday: 11am - 5:30pm
Tuesday-Friday: 11am - 6pm Saturday and Sunday: 10:45am - 6pm The Visitors Center & Tenement Shops’ hours of operation are different from the the times of tenement tours.
The Visitors Center includes a 25-seat theatre which shows a 25-minute video produced by the History Channel about immigration to the Lower East Side from the 19th Century to the present. The film is free-of-charge to all visitors.
A computer station is available where visitors can access a virtual tour of the Museum's historic tenement building. A Talking Tactile Tablet is also available for visitors with visual impairments. The Tenement Shop offers an impressive collection of New York-centric and immigrant-themed books, as well as gifts for adults and children. The constantly expanding collection complements and reflects the history and diversity of the New York experience from its beginnings until the present-day. The Visitors Center & Tenement Shop hosts The Events at the Museum Shop. Free and open to the public (unless noted otherwise), The Events at the Museum Shop meets every month for book readings, discussions and publishing parties.
