Join us on YouTube Live for a free virtual book talk with Patrick Chura, author of  Michael Gold: The People’s Writer, in conversation with author, journalist and critic J. Hoberman. While a key progressive author of his generation, the work of radical writer, activist and cultural figure Michael Gold is often forgotten. Best known for his acclaimed autobiographical novel Jews Without Money, Gold’s story and influence are recapitulated from his youth on the Lower East Side, his fame in the 1920s and blacklisting during the McCarthy era. Chura illuminates Gold, a courageous and controversial figure of the twentieth century, as “The best American writer that is still largely unknown to Americans”.
