Join us on YouTube Live for a free virtual talk with Thomas Hynes, author of Wild City: A Brief History of New York City in 40 Animals, in conversation with Tenement Museum’s Collections Manager, Lana Dubin.

Thomas Hynes is a writer who lives in Brooklyn with his wife, Veronica, and their dog, Ladybug. His work has been featured in Scientific American, Sierra Club, The Awl, Gothamist, Business Insider, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, and Untapped New York.

Together, Tom and Lana will discuss some of the most well-known, surprising, notorious, mythical, and sublime non-human citizens of New York City. From refugee parrots and prodigal beavers to gorgeous Fifth Avenue hawks and vengeful groundhogs, there are many legendary creatures who have made New York their home.
