For 125 years — from 1863 to 1988 when the Museum was founded — 97 Orchard Street functioned as the home and business for thousands of Lower East Siders. As they lived and worked in the building, they left behind they left behind physical fragments of their lives: newspapers, cutlery, receipts, letters, and food.
