Virtual Tour
When: Wednesday, August 11, 2021, 7:00 - 8:00 pm ET
Event Location: YouTube Live
Cost: Suggested Donation
Join us on YouTube Live to explore how immigrant women fed their families during the 19th and 20th centuries. This virtual visit to our historic tenement buildings at 97 and 103 Orchard Street will examine the daily work involved in cooking food, using rarely displayed artifacts from the Museum’s expansive collection, alongside primary sources, photographs, and oral history. Through different families and time periods, you’ll see how food was prepared in tenement kitchens, where people shopped, and how women made decisions about what to cook.
Please note: This program will only be available on YouTube 24 hours after it airs.
While this program is free, you can donate to support future programming from the Tenement Museum here.
