Since the Museum opened 33 years ago, “magic” has often been a word used to describe what it feels like to walk through our historic tenements for the first timeAnd thanks to the Washington Post, you can experience this feeling like never before using high-resolution, detailed photogrammetry technology in their latest digital story, “Millions of Americans can trace their ancestry back to tenements like this one”. This story allows you to visually explore one of our tenement buildings and get a sense of the living conditions and housing laws that affected all tenement dwellers throughout the city in the 19th and 20th centuries.

This special link for our Tenement Museum community allows you to view the Washington Post’s story without a paywall. We hope you enjoy!
