Associate IT & Digital Media




The Tenement Museum is seeking a full time Information Technology and Digital Media Associate.  This position’s primary focus is in the areas of computer/network support and Audio and Video (AV) operations, included but not limited to: equipment repair, AV and network wires installation and maintenance, user support (hardware and software), help desk, and AV equipment support (projectors, speakers, mics, among others). The Information Technology and Digital Media Associate provides support for all planning, design, implementation and operation of the museum’s technology and information systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintains a Microsoft Active directory, Microsoft Office 365 environment with over 150 users and over 80 workstations
  • Provides support to phone systems and lines of communication at all locations; provides technical support to all staff members; and performs troubleshooting of email, security, servers and workstation operating systems, backups, virus infections, printers, point of sale, videoconferencing, wireless, and the latest audiovisual technology for the Museum’s exhibits and infrastructure
  • Sets up and configures desktop computers, peripherals and accounts assigning proper security level
  • Demonstrates a strong technical background in Windows server, Microsoft 365
  • Understand firewall and networks
  • Supports security technology including alarm systems and cameras; assists in developing permissions and policies for all technology usage at the Museum
  • Interfaces directly with vendors
  • Maintains all software utilized by the Museum, including Altru (a web-based ticketing and development system), Fund-EZ (a project-based accounting software), RetailPro (POS system)
  • Researches and recommends system equipment upgrades and manages equipment inventory
  • Develops and tests user documentation
  • Works with hardware vendors to resolve equipment failures/problems
  • Provides training for all software and audiovisual technology at the Museum

Skills and Experience:

Experience providing customer service in a technological environment. Comfortable setting up audio and video equipment. Knowledge of a variety of hardware, software, and operation systems. Knowledge of network protocols. Strong experience with computer applications and operating systems.

Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Associates degree in computer related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience administering: Azure, Office 365, Windows Server, including knowledge of group policy, Hyper-V/ESXi, and familiarity with patch management processes and network security practices
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Must possess a user-first mentality
  • Exceptional motivation to learn on the job and ability to work independently
  • Extensive Windows, Mac and iOS or Android experience
  • Knowledge of Raspberry Pi/Arduino devices

 This position will be 100% onsite and proof of vaccination will be required.
