Development and Membership Associate

The Tenement Museum is currently seeking a Development and Membership Associate to join our full-time staff onsite.

Founded in 1988, the Tenement Museum tells the uniquely American stories of immigrants, migrants, and refugees in the ongoing creation of the United States. We are widely recognized as a model for narrative history, storytelling, and visitor engagement. The Museum is housed in two historic buildings located on Orchard Street in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where daily Educator-led tours of family homes, walking tours of the neighborhood, school programs, special events and other experiences share the stories of former residents and their contributions to the evolving American identity.

Position Description: The Development and Membership Associate will support the Museum’s fundraising needs through data entry, administrative support, research, and communications. Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, the Associate will work closely with the Museum’s three-person Development team to raise funds from a variety of sources (individuals, corporations, foundations, government). The role will help coordinate the daily operations of this fast-paced team, including the processing of contributions and acknowledgments. The Associate will also support an active member base, coordinating communications, special programs, and other opportunities for this community to stay involved. The role will be joining this small team at an exciting moment as the Museum nears a historic preservation project within one of its historic tenement buildings, the implementation of a new exhibit, and a CRM migration from Altru to Salesforce.
