Partnerships Manager




This new, full-time position within the Museum’s Education Department will support the development and launch of a nationwide network of museums and related institutions interpreting the stories of migration, immigration, and refugees in American history. Building on the Tenement Museum’s existing network of Your Story, Our Story project participants, the Network Partnerships Manager will lead an internal team to design network structure, foster relationships with members, provide member services, manage network convenings, and develop shared programming activities with and for partner museums, both at the Tenement Museum and at partner sites nationwide. A key component of the project will be the development and coordination of a traveling festival event held at partner institutions. This position will report to the Director of Programs and work closely with the Chief Programs Officer, Education Specialists, and across Museum departments to design, deliver and evaluate high-impact partnership outcomes.


  • Launch and lead core project team
  • Lead development and design of network structures, including fee scales, meeting calendars and resource materials
  • Grow network though outreach and connection-making at prospective member museums around the country, including:
    • Identifying and cultivating prospective network members
    • Recruiting and onboarding new network members
    • Managing partner relationships
  • Coordinate development of network services, including web resources, distance learning, and other services to be identified by the project team Plan and manage annual convening of network members to include:
    • Content presentations and facilitated discussion
    • Participatory design process for network events
    • Peer learning and community-building through sharing of practice and outcomes
  • Lead planning and execution of traveling festival event, working with network partners and Tenement Museum core team
    • Conceptualize events with core project team and network partners
    • Manage relationships with consultants for event logistics and production, design, exhibit fabrication, evaluation, and other needs
    • Oversee execution of partnership events, working closely with partner staff and Tenement Museum core team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong project management skills and experience leading projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in a relationship management role, particularly with long-distance constituents
  • Interest in working with storytelling, history, immigration, and/or museum education
  • Able to travel domestically 25% of time
  • Comfortable with both operating independently and leading cross-departmental project teams
  • Traveling exhibition and/or event experience helpful
