Tenement residents often spent much of their day outside of their apartments. On this tour, you’ll walk the same streets as the Rogarshevsky family did in 1911, to the site of the neighborhood’s pushcart market, to the very first park in the neighborhood, and to an important center of Jewish American life at the Educational Alliance, before visiting their recreated tenement apartment exhibit inside the Manny Cantor Center. Explore the neighborhood through their eyes as they balanced tradition, work, and fun on the Lower East Side. Recommended for visitors of all ages.
*This tour starts at the Tenement Museum at 103 Orchard Street and ends at the Manny Cantor Center at 197 East Broadway. The walking portion spans 0.6 miles.
