2024 Gala | Generation to Generation: A Nation of Grandchildren
The Tenement Museum’s Gala this year on May 2nd, titled Generation to Generation: A Nation of Grandchildren, honored family histories.
To commemorate our 35th anniversary, we invited our tenement family descendants to revisit their ancestors’ homes, hosted a panel with special guests Jelani Cobb, Tony Michels, and Mae Ngai on why bringing the stories of immigrants and migrants to life is crucial to illuminating broader questions about American identity, and honored Tenement Museum Co-Chair Merryl Snow Zegar for her contributions to expanding the breadth of stories we preserve and share.
We’re grateful for your generosity and friendship. Whether you joined us in person or virtually, your support enables us to use the stories of diverse historic tenement families to build knowledge, empathy, and connection in the world today.
