Share

When: Wednesday, January 29, 2020, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Event Location: 103 Orchard Street

Cost: $65

Together with the New York Times-featured culinary dream-team at League of Kitchens, we’re hosting a special, cozy winter cooking event. Join League of Kitchens instructors Damira, from Uzbekistan, and Rachana, from Nepal, for a hands-on demo and tasting of two different types of dumplings and visit the Tenement Museum’s Confino family apartment to explore similar techniques, spices, and traditions from their 1916 Sephardic Jewish kitchen. End the evening with a drink and a conversation about women, culture, and food with Damira, Rachana, and League of Kitchens Founder, Lisa Gross.

Cooking Demo Menu:

Pumpkin Sambusa (Baked Savory Pies)

Flaky triangular pies filled with cumin-scented butternut squash and onion, brushed with egg yolk, and sprinkled with sesame seeds.

Tarkari Ko Momo with Pakako Golbhenda Ko Achar (Cabbage Dumplings with Tomato Dipping Sauce)

Dumplings filled with shredded cabbage, chayote squash, paneer cheese, cilantro, fresh ginger, and spices, steamed until tender. Served with a deeply-spiced blended tomato-chile sauce for dipping.

*Food served will be vegetarian and kosher
