Virtual Tour: The Wong Family

Join us for Lower East Side History Month and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by exploring the stories of the Wongs, a Chinese American family who lived in 103 Orchard Street. They moved to the Lower East Side in the late 1960s, and we’ll look at how they made a home in the neighborhood and how their experiences reflect the growth of Chinese communities in New York and in the country. Why was Mrs. Wong’s work in the garment industry so important for the family? What was the impact of immigration law on the Wongs’ experiences? Through 360-degree immersive images, through memories and stories directly from the Wongs, and through videos from scholars and historians throughout the tour, you’ll explore the past and connect to the present.
