Member Virtual Tour: In Praise of Stuff

Members are invited to join Tenement Museum Collections Manager Lana Dubin as she gives you an early look our new digital exhibit, “In Praise of Stuff: The Tenement Museum’s Collection”, launching to the public on June 26, 2021. During this event exclusively for Members, you will explore how the Museum brings the stories of our tenement families to life through the objects in our collections: everyday items that were either left behind in the buildings, heirlooms donated by the families of former residents, stories relayed to us through oral histories, or antiques purchased in order to accurately recreate a space. This exhibit will take you through the spaces of three different families in three different time periods – the Levine family in the 1890s, the Baldizzi family in the 1930s, and the Saez Velez family in the 1960s – to give you a behind the scenes look at the “stuff” that comprises our one of a kind museum collection.
