Join us for a preview of the Tenement Museum’s Virtual Field Trips, including an overview of our resources and a Q&A session!

This session will feature the story of the Saez Velez family and their 1968 home. It will be geared towards grades 12, but teachers of all ages are welcome. On this virtual field trip, students learn the migration story of the Saez Velez family and explore the objects in their recreated apartment to learn about the family’s culture and consider what’s needed to create a home. Through video interviews and family and neighborhood photographs, students will examine how the family builds community within their home, in the neighborhood, and even between Puerto Rico and New York City. Students will reflect on how they themselves belong to many different communities.

This example Virtual Field Trip for grades 1-2 covers topics and themes such as community, jobs and industries, and cultural identity.

Not sure if you can make it? Catch the next one! See our Educator events page for details on more teacher previews available.
