Join us on YouTube Live to explore how immigrant women fed their families during the 19th and 20th centuries. This virtual visit to our historic tenement buildings at 97 and 103 Orchard Street will examine the daily tasks involved in cooking food using rarely displayed artifacts from the Museum’s expansive collection of everyday objects, along with primary sources and photographs. We’ll discuss how food was prepared, where residents shopped, and historic events that affected how families cooked, revealing often overlooked details of women’s lives.
Please note: This program will only be available on YouTube 24 hours after it airs.
While this program is free, you can donate to support future programming from the Tenement Museum here.
