Join us on April 16th on YouTube Live inside the Museum’s newest recreated apartment for an intimate visit to Joseph and Rachel Moore’s tenement home.

Joseph and Rachel Moore were Black New Yorkers who lived in a rear tenement in today’s Soho in the 1860s, and shared their apartment with an adult daughter and two roommates, Irish immigrant Rose Brown and her multiracial son, Louis Munday. We’ll explore the Moores’ daily life, work, and community, and Museum staff and curators will share an up-close look at their favorite objects from the family’s home.
