Join us on YouTube Live to explore the role of community in creating change, through the story of the Saez-Velez family, a Puerto Rican family who lived on the Lower East Side for fifty years. Beginning with their arrival in New York in the 1950s, we’ll see how different generations of the Saez-Velez family built community at home, at school, at work, and in the neighborhood. We’ll also talk about the significant impact that Puerto Rican culture and movements have had on the U.S. – something celebrated every June with the Puerto Rican Day Parade! At the end we’ll share about different ways that all of us can participate in community action.
Recommended for ages 7 – 14; fun for parents too
