Explore the stories of the Saez Velez and Wong families, who lived in the tenement at 103 Orchard Street as neighbors in the 1960s and 1970s. Visitors will explore their experiences as Puerto Rican and Chinese American families on the Lower East Side, and how these two communities shaped the garment industry. How did work impact their experiences? How were they building community, and shaping what the Lower East Side is today? Through oral histories and videos, visitors will hear directly from family and community members to learn about their stories and explore these themes as they tour their recreated homes.
