Join the Tenement Museum and the New York Immigration Coalition on November 28th for a special virtual Tenement Talk over Youtube Live on the past, present, and future of immigrants and politics in New York City – broadcasted live from our recreated 1960s tenement apartment.
In honor of NYIC’s 35th Anniversary, we’ll explore the story of immigrant New York through the connections and conflicts with city government and how it evolved under pressures that tested the boundaries of national belonging over the last three decades. Murad Awawdeh and Councilmember Shahana Hanif discuss with Marco Carrión, Executive Director of El Puente and former commissioner of the city’s Community Affairs Unit.
While this program is free, you can donate to support future programming from the Tenement Museum here.
This program will continue to be available on our Youtube channel following the LIVE screening.
