Reserve a Language Translation Device

The Tenement Museum offers free language translation aid for tours. While tours are conducted in English, our new simultaneous translation software will be available for all visitors upon request.

The Ambassador Interpreter is a wearable, over-the-ear interpreter device that captures speech and provides both an audio translation and a written transcription in real time. The Ambassador can translate 20 languages and 42 dialects with incredible accuracy and is designed to be comfortable, hygienic, and easy to use.

Two Ways to Participate

  • Using Museum tablet and earpiece provided
    • Paired to a tablet connected to the Ambassador app, you and your tour educator will wear earpieces. As they speak, an audio translation will play. Simultaneously, the app will generate a translated transcript of the audio for you to read and reference.
  • Using your smartphone and headphones
    • After downloading the Ambassador mobile app, your device will be paired via Bluetooth to the earpiece worn by the tour educator. As they speak, you can use your headphones to hear an audio translation and/or read the translated transcript provided by the app.

Please Note: The Museum provides iPads for the use of this software. To borrow equipment, a credit card will be needed on file.

If you are interested in reserving a free translation aid during your visit, please fill out the form below and a member of our Visitor Services team will be in contact.
