Join us on YouTube Live for a free virtual book talk with Ilan Stavans, author of Latino USA: A Cartoon History in conversation with Tenement Museum staff member, Elizabeth Venditto.

Latino USA is a marvelous representation of Ilan Stavans’ lifelong ambition to capture the multi-dimensions and nuance of Latino culture in a comic style celebration of its history, with illustrations by Lalo Alcarez and a host of often contradictory narrators — (a toucan, Cantiflas and Captain America, to name just a few) and Stavans himself, remains the impartial storyteller. The result is a spinning together of history in its subjective, subversive and entirely human storyline.
