Turn your “trash” into treasure! Join our Education Department for a mini history lesson and crafting activity inspired by the resourcefulness of former tenement residents. Look at the Confino Family’s apartment from 1916 and learn about games and objects they made from found materials. Then, make your own toy, game, or other objects from materials in your home—no trip to the store required! We’ll end with a live question and answer session.

Preparation: Caregivers, please gather some options for “found materials” for your child—plastic bottle caps, egg cartons, and toilet paper tubes are some of our favorites. Tape and markers are also good additions.
